How Many Boxes Do I Need to Move House?
A practical room-by-room estimate for Singapore homes, plus what changes the number.

Good packing starts with a realistic plan and materials matched to the load. Use this guide as a practical starting point, then adjust it to the items in front of you.
Start with the size of your home
A useful starting estimate is 10–15 boxes for a room rental, 20–30 for a one-bedroom home, 35–50 for a three-room flat and 50–70 for a larger home. Treat these as planning ranges: a book collector may need more small boxes, while a minimalist may need far fewer.
Match the box to the load
Use compact cartons for books, canned goods and files. Medium cartons suit kitchenware and mixed belongings. Reserve large cartons for bedding, clothes and lightweight bulky items so they remain safe to lift.
Keep a small buffer
Add roughly ten percent to your estimate. A few spare cartons prevent last-minute delays and can become donation, essentials or cleaning-supply boxes.
